Audiobooks have been around for a long time and I’ve just been totally resistant to them for various reasons. The main reason being that I couldn’t stay focused on the words being spoken to me and kept thinking about other things like work or something I had to do at home.
However, I’ve been wanting to read more books, but my schedule hasn’t allowed me to read as much as I want. So I thought about trying audiobooks again so I can listen to them on my commute to and from work.
I researched which apps would be the best and decided to use Spotify which I already had downloaded on my phone, just had to add the audiobook hours.
Browsing the available titles, I decided my audiobook journey should start with a book about a bookshop and picked The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods. I was able to get through the book in less than a week.
I found I can fully focus on listening to the book while I’m on my commute, walking around, cleaning, and at the gym. Unfortunately, I can’t stayed focused if I’m laying or sitting down doing nothing. I typically start falling asleep and end up having to rewind the book.
Now that I’ve tried it and figured out which settings I can successfully listen and stay focused, I will be continue utilizing audiobooks. I’m very excited to get through many more books now!
